Jamie comes from quite a lineage of Karting and Motorsport. Jamie's late Grandfather, Gordon started racing Karts at Rye House in 1961 and was also Deputy Chairman of the club in the late 60’s to Chairman Doug Jest. Uncle Kim Perry raced karts from 1963 to 1968 and later moved into circuit racing throughout the 70’s, winning one national championship, enjoying competition in Formula Ford with the likes of Derek Daly, Derek Warwick, David Kennedy who went on to formula one and many other notable drivers of the era. Dad Ian Perry took a route from some karting into Autocross and Rallycross rather than the more expensive circuit racing and then worked in support of brother Kim’s activities.

Elder brother Richard Perry started indoor karting in 1996 at Caxton, near Cambridge and started racing outdoor in Junior Formula TKM in 1999 followed by Junior Intermediate before going into Senior Rotax Max. Richard has the distinction of winning both heats and the final in his first ever event at Rye House, which was for novices only. Richard raced at Rye House, Nuthampstead, Kimbolton, Shennington and PF International, always accompanied by Jamie. Richard resumed karting in Rotax heavy 177 during 2007 after a few years break.

Jamie is racing in Formula TKM, a formula where previous champions include the likes of Jenson Button. The link to the past is continued as his Grandfathers first karting equipment was also supplied by Tal-ko 45 yrs ago, the proprietor was Bernie Turney, father of the current boss, Alan Turney.
